Phillipians 2:3-4

Imitating Christ's Humility

Phillipian 2:3-4"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility considers others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others."

New words
1. Conceit = Excessive pride in oneself.
Ex: He was puffed up with conceit.
. Puff up = Swell or become swollen = phồng lên, sưng lên
----------------------
1. What is "selfish ambition"?
Greed and hungriness make us become apart from others. Sharing and caring bond people together.
2. What is "vain conceit"?
Conceit is excessive pride. Myself is vain without people around me.
When you "Consider others better than yourselves", you can learn from them, see how to get people together, and how to win them over to your side.
3. Look to the interests of others. I can be successful when I get people around me successful. To help people, I need to be more capable, have bigger network, and I have to practice and be stronger everyday.
-----------------
I need to take time to understand people. Understand what they need and how I can help them. I need to tell about people's interests first before I talk about my interests.

Being humble.

Some words from Mother Teresa about humility:

Mother Teresa
“These are the few ways we can practice humility:

To speak as little as possible of one's self.

To mind one's own business.

Not to want to manage other people's affairs.

To avoid curiosity.

To accept contradictions and correction cheerfully.

To pass over the mistakes of others.

To accept insults and injuries.

To accept being slighted, forgotten and disliked.

To be kind and gentle even under provocation.

Never to stand on one's dignity.

To choose always the hardest.”
