The Perseverant RISK

“I thought about Fred, how he had taken the leap of faith when he fist joined Zappos because he believed in what was possible. He had given up a great career, just bought a new house, and had kids to take care of. He has risked his entire life for the Zappos dream.

I told Afred I was going to follow Fred’s footsteps and do the same thing. We had taken it this far, and I wanted to see how far we could take Zappos. Even if Zappos failed, we would know that we had done everything we could to chase a dream we believed in.”

Zappos has almost been bankruptcy many times before Amazon bought Zappos for $1.2 billion. The great lesson taken from this page is the uncertainty of entrepreneurship. I admire not only the work ethic of Zappos founder, but also their faith in the business.

Dealing with the uncertainty is a trait that separates between an entrepreneur and an employee. Will you be ok to know the next month income is zero? Will you be ok to sell your house to put that money into your business? Will you be ok to sacrifice your life style to save some money for your venture?

We see the spotlight of success about all entrepreneurs, but we don’t know how much sacrifice and commitments they have been through to make the business work.

No Risk. No Reward.
