Advertising Series #1: The Image - Why?
I am reading a Vietnamese-translated English advertising book and I feel there are some good info over here
that I cannot wait to share with you guys. Most writings here are not mine, all ideas belong to the author Dupont and his book Advertising Best Secret. I just use the book like a platform to write, translate, and learn. So I am reading a book called Which Image Attracts Attention The Most?. Here are some good notes:
- Researchs prove that people remember ads, emphasizing heavily on images. better 41% than ad, emphasizing on words. Moreover, according to Starch's (an ad agency?) researchs, it shows that the effect of images hold 44% of making audience notice your ad and for those remember your ads, only 9% can read half of your words
- Claude Cossette (a mAD man) says the image brings two advantages: 1)The meaning of image can be decoded in the speed of lightning; meanwhile, the meaning of words can only be decoded in the speed of sound.2) The image can create iconic factors and symbolic factors that can deliver messages to related audience.
- Napoleon said, "If you want to dote upon the crowd, let's use whatever they can see to talk to them."
- It is amazing that European politicians, social activists from European Union are so eager to learn how to use the tool of image; therefore, they can use image to communicate, because there is twelve different languages speaking in Europe.
- Image is non-verbal communication. All ideas using image as tool to communicate are going beyond the limit of languages and borders of countries.
- Image is a solution to create attention in the overloaded-information world.
End for tonight.
